Năm nay cuộc thi đã thu hút 277.000 nhiếp ảnh gia từ 183 quốc gia trên thế giới đến tham dự. Danh sách những người chiến thắng sẽ được công bố vào ngày 20/4 tới đây tại Somerset House ở London.
Cuộc thi năm nay gồm 4 cuộc thi theo từng đối tượng:
Professional: dành cho các nhiếp ảnh gia chuyên nghiệp
Các hạng mục ảnh nghệ thuật: Architecture / Conceptual / Landscape / Natural World / Portraiture / Still Life
Các hạng mục ảnh tư liệu: Current Affairs & News / Contemporary Issues / Daily Life / Sport
Open (Dành cho tất cả mọi người): Chọn 1 tấm xuất sắc nhất
10 hạng mục: Architecture / Culture / Enhanced / Motion / Nature / Wildlife / Portraits / Still Life / Street Photography / Travel
National Awards: Trong cuộc thi Open, mỗi tác phẩm sẽ tự động được phân loại theo quốc gia để tham gia phần thi theo từng quốc gia cụ thể.
Youth (Dành cho các bạn trẻ từ 12-19 tuổi): Chọn 1 tấm xuất sắc nhất
Student Focus (Dành cho những sinh viên, học sinh theo học chuyên ngành nhiếp ảnh): Chọn 1 tấm xuất sắc nhất
Giải thưởng cho người thắng cuộc sẽ gồm:
- Các thiết bị ảnh mới nhất của Sony.
- Có mặt trong buổi triển lãm Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition tại London.
- Có mặt trong cuốn sách Sony World Photography Awards winners book phát hành thường niên.
- 25,000 (USD) cho danh hiệu Nhiếp Ảnh Gia Của Năm - Photographer of the Year.
- 5,000 USD cho người thắng giải Open sẽ xuất hiện trên các kênh truyền thông thế giới.
